This was a festival within a festival, which featured the cream of street theatre, performance and music in the heart of Georgian Dublin. With acts from Ireland and around the world, Big Day Out was a must for visitors and families alike! The sun shone on Merrion Square, which became an oversized playground for both children and adults, with over 90,000 people attending. Did you catch the Flash Tea Parties?

Pick your song on the “Human Jukebox” or go to the flicks at the solar powered “Sol Cinema”. For the youngsters amongst you, check out the toddler’s play area, the musical sculptures and the vintage bus full of books. Hip Hop, Planet Jump Rope displays, oodles of games, swarms of performers, a bag full of noise - a whole day full of fun.

With quirky activities in the park and on the streets, we guarantee a fun-filled day for all the family. Come early to get a slice of the fun...

2010 Big Day Out Acts

Jitterbug Jackson (IRE)

Jitterbug Jackson- brand new solo- a boogie woogie whirlwind of a show, sure to bring a smile to even the most skeptical of folk. A lucky volunteer will also enjoy the blindfold ladder- balance egg challenge, ( not quite as messy or dangerous as it sounds!! ) and the show climaxes with the amazing sight and sound of everyone delighting in a session of Jitterbugaerobics.

Interactive Musical Structures by EDUCATS (SPAIN) in the Family & Kids area.

Sol Cinema (UK)

A stylish mobile cinema powered by the sun. It will show ‘short’s throughout the day.

Planet Jump Rope (BELGUIM)

An amazing mix of hip hop & acrobatics.

Chapeau Magique (FRANCE)

A "Magic Hat" workshop. The artist invites the public to join him on an instant origami experience. BDO will be awash with people wearing their own customised hats made from a single sheet of paper.

Flash Tea Party

A flash tea party unfolds in front of unsuspecting guests who will be served free tea and cake as part of the festivals 15th year celebrations.

Moaning Lisa by Fine Artistes (UK)

Leonardo da Vinci and the Mona Lisa have arrived in the 21st Century and will be strolling through Merrion Square. Unfortunately, Lisa is a real moaner and the public are invited to assist Leo in re-discovering that enigmatic smile!!
