ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL CÉILÍ TAKES CENTRE STAGE

Ireland’s greatest street Céilí as part of St. Patrick’s Festival on St. Stephen’s Green, in association with Today FM.

Tuesday 16th March, 4pm – 7pm.

March 2010

This year’s St. Patrick’s Festival will have you dancing on the streets as it brings back the Festival Céilí due to popular demand. Taking place on St. Stephen’s Green on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day (16th March), you are invited to get your dancing shoes on Céilí style and bust some Irish dancing moves on the streets of Dublin.

Celebrating the Festival Céilí comeback will be ‘Riverdancer’ Dearbhla Lennon who will call the céilí dances, ensuring you don’t miss a step to the likes of The Siege of Ennis and The Stack of Barley. Dearbhla will also be on hand to give expert advice on any ‘technical’ difficulties, helping you master the ‘one-two-threes’, high kicks and many other tricks of the Irish dancing trade. Whether you fancy yourself as the next Michael Flatley or have two left feet, St. Patrick’s Festival Céilí welcomes one and all to what is promised to be an unforgettable, ‘ceilitastic’ evening of Irish music and dance.

“We’re delighted that the Festival Céilí is back on the programme this year as it is one of the Festival’s most entertaining and ‘traditionally Irish’ events, for a modern audience. We’re really hoping this event will start St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on a high note for families, friends and tourists visiting the city for our national celebration,” commented Susan Kirby, CEO of St. Patrick’s Festival.

St. Patrick’s Festival Céilí ‘kicks’ off on Tuesday, 16th March on St. Stephen’s Green at 4pm until 7pm. What better way to begin the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations than to be part of one of Ireland’s largest outdoor dancing experiences?

St. Patrick’s Festival Céilí is just one of the many thrilling events taking place this year during the six-day national celebration running from Friday 12th until Wednesday 17th March. Celebrating its 15th Anniversary, St Patrick’s Festival promises the very best in street theatre, an explosive fireworks display, traditional and contemporary Irish music, comedy, film, visual arts, dance, a treasure hunt, GaelSpraoi Irish language events, family fun and of course the world’s best St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
