IT’S OFFICAL! THIS YEAR’S ST. PATRICK’S DAY IS ON MONDAY 17TH MARCH!

January 2008

Today, (Thursday, 10th January) St. Patrick’s Festival is delighted to announce that St. Patrick’s Day 2008 will take place on...St. Patrick’s Day, Monday, 17th March! Donal Shiels, CEO of St. Patrick’s Festival has confirmed that the national celebration of St. Patrick’s Day will not be moved to another date. Unusually, St. Patrick’s Day falls at the beginning of Easter week causing confusion as to when the annual celebrations will be held.

“After Christmas, everyone’s thoughts must turn to St. Patrick’s Day, because it is the next holiday period. Our festival office has been inundated with phone calls from people wanting to know when St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated this year. We would like to take this opportunity to clear up any possible confusion in relation to the date well in advance of the big day. St. Patrick’s Day and the Parade will go ahead as normal on Monday, 17th March”, commented Shiels.

St. Patrick’s Festival 2008 kicks off the national celebrations on Thursday, 13th March and culminates with the world famous St. Patrick’s Festival Parade spectacular on the streets of Dublin city on Monday, 17th March. St. Patrick’s Festival will offer a thrilling and varied line-up including a huge selection of music, street theatre, family carnivals, comedy, and dance, all planned to turn Ireland’s capital city into a vast stage during the five festival days and nights.

Be sure to join in and play your part in what promises to be one of the most memorable St. Patrick’s Festivals ever! Don’t miss out on all the fun of St. Patrick’s Festival 2008 – see www.stpatricksfestival.ie for further details!
