Community & Outreach Programme

City Fusion & Brighter Futures

Community & Outreach is an important component of St. Patrick’s Festival.  Each year the Festival delivers two Community & Outreach projects:

City Fusion (adult group project 18+)
Brighter Futures (youth group project (13-18)

These are the Festival’s multidisciplinary arts participation projects, celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion and integration throughout Ireland.

What are our aims?

  • To involve local Irish communities, groups from diverse backgrounds, marginalised groups and new communities in a significant arts experience.
  • To create a synergy among the chosen groups, embracing understanding, personal learning and development.

How does it work?

  • Interested groups apply online, filling out the application form here.
  • Successful groups participate in weekly workshops with artists and skilled facilitators, from January to March each year at the project HQ.
  • Participants work together to create two pageants for St. Patrick’s Festival parade, learning skills in prop and costume making, circus, performance, music and dance.
  • Following months of working together, participants of City Fusion & Brighter Futures will present their creations and participate in the St. Patrick’s Festival as their pageant piece will become part of the National Parade.

City Fusion participant groups for 2013 were: The Irish Deaf Society, Filipino Cultural Organisation of Ireland, Lithuanian Association in Ireland, DCU Japanese Society, MENNI Services St. John of God’s, Dublin Pride and BeLongTo.

Brighter Futures participant groups for 2013 were: Irish Deaf Youth Association, City of Dublin YMCA, the Polish Weekend School, Robert Emmett Community Development Project, CDVEC Foundations Project, Sphere 17 for Brighter Futures 2013,.

St. Patrick’s Festival is continuously striving for artistic excellence, aspiring to become bigger, brighter, better and bolder in future years.
