The Dublin University Boat Races between Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin is an annual contest between fierce local rivals. It takes place on 19th March on the River Liffey from O’Connell Bridge to St James Gate Brewery. The novice races will commence at 8.30am and the senior men’s race, the Gannon Cup, will be contested at 10am.

The senior men’s race, the Gannon Cup, is in its 65th year having been founded in 1947 in memory of former UCD Captain Ciaran Gannon, who lost his life in Burma in 1944.
This year’s races promises to be as hard-fought as ever as UCD defend their 2011 titles. With great views and a lively atmosphere at O’Connell Bridge for the start this is an event not to be missed on St Patrick’s weekend!
