IFI Irish Film Archive presents one of the best-loved, least-seen films from its collection.
Quackser Fortune is a bizarre romantic comedy starring Gene Wilder (in an admirably restrained performance) as a Dublin horse-manure salesman who falls in love with Zazel (Margot Kidder later Lois Lane), a swinging young Trinity student. They are joined by a great local cast including Eileen Colgan, May Ollis and the irrepressible David Kelly.
All is rosy in their world until the city’s work-horses, whose droppings provide Quackser’s livelihood, are replaced by cars and Zazel must return to America.
A delightful St Patrick’s Day treat for all the family .
