St. Patrick’s Festival is Major Tourism Boost to Ireland

New figures revealed this week show the vital economic impact of the 2010 St. Patrick’s Festival, which added €43.7 million to the economy in spending by tourists.

This number further rises to €50.5 million when the spend by Dubliners attending is included. The four-day Festival, which celebrates its 16th year in 2011, has proven its status as the largest event in the country with the new figures highlighting the importance of the event to the economy. 

The survey, commissioned by Fáilte Ireland, examined the success of the 2010 event with emphasis on economic impacts, along with the country of origin and composition of the audience.
