Five Weeks to Go!

Science Theme

It’s five weeks to festival time and the St. Patrick’s Festival office is getting busy!

The festival programme is coming together now so we have lots of great events to organise.  Some are festival favourites like Céilí, Big Day Out and Treasure Hunt.  Some are brand new like The Children’s Literary Adventure, taking place on a train in Connolly Station!

Of course the biggest most exciting event every year is the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade on 17th March and this year is no exception.  HOW? WHAT? WHY? is the theme for the 2012 St. Patrick’s Festival Parade as part of Dublin City of Science 2012.  A selection of science related questions that children ask will be brought to life by the eight pageants performing in the parade.  Take a look at the fun primary school project we are running which explores these science questions.

If you’re an early bird, make sure to catch the Dublin University Boat Races on Monday morning beginning at 8.30am.  You can watch the races as they make their way up the river from O’Connell Bridge to St. James’ Gate.

Would you like to get involved with this year’s festival?  Why not become a volunteer?  We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable people to help us out over festival time.

Our top tip for this week!
Enter the Festival 5km Road Race on Sunday 18th March.  It’s a great way to enjoy the festival atmosphere and get some exercise too!
