A Group Member is a person who intends to participate in the People’s Parade with one or more people. Before registering as a group member your group must be registered by your group leader. Your group leader will have been issued with a ‘Group ID’.

(It is this ‘Group ID’ that will identify you as a member of your group and will ensure that you and all your group members can march together in the People’s Parade.)

Full Terms and Conditions

Participation in The People’s Parade section of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Dublin, Ireland taking place on Sunday, March 17th 2013 (“People’s Parade”) is subject to these Terms and Conditions.

By participating in the People’s Parade the participant is deemed to have consented to and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Reference in these Terms and Conditions to “the Festival” includes St. Patrick’s Festival, its organisers and any of its sponsors, partners, agents or employees.

All participants must be over 15 years of age. Participants aged 15-18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
The Festival is not responsible for the cost and arrangement of participants’ travel and visa requirements. These must be organised by the participant or via a tour operator or agent.
Participants must take part in the People’s Parade on foot (save persons who have accessibility requirements), and no bikes, unicycles, roller blades, skates, skate boards, scooters, segways or motorised equipment of any description may be utilised.
No animals are permitted in the People’s Parade (save for guide dogs, please notify the People’s Parade Co-ordinator in advance.
Participants must carry on their person any important medical information and a contact number in case of emergency.
As the route is approx. 2.5Km long, and as participants will also be on foot in the set up area pre-Parade, during the People’s Parade and in the viewing area post-Parade, it is imperative that participants are of sound medical condition.
Places in the People’s Parade are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis and participation is subject to the approval of the Festival.
The Festival reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at its sole discretion.
The Festival will not be responsible for any accident or injury sustained by any participant by any cause whatsoever as a result of or in connection with such participant’s participation in the People’s Parade.
The Festival does not accept responsibility for the acts or omissions of third parties. The Festival does not accept any liability whatsoever in the event that the People’s Parade is cancelled or does not take place for any reason that is beyond of the Festival’s reasonable control.
Personal property of the participant shall be entirely at the participant’s own risk. The Festival accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any property loss, theft or destruction howsoever caused.
Participants are permitted to wear a uniform, if desired, subject to approval from the People’s Parade Coordinator (Details on uniforms will be requested during the application process).
Participant groups are permitted to carry one banner to identify their group and this will be carried ahead of the group. Note that banners are subject to approval of the Festival and the Festival may remove any banners deemed inappropriate (details on banners will be requested during the application process).
Participant groups/individuals are permitted to carry flags. Note that flags are subject to approval from the Festival and the Festival may remove any flags deemed inappropriate.
Other than the group identifying banner or flags referred to above, no placards or signs containing wording, messages and/or images are permitted in the People’s Parade.
No commercial, sponsorship or other branded messaging or images can appear on uniforms and/or clothing worn in the People’s Parade or be displayed in any way by participants on banners, flags or other otherwise. (If unsure please check with the People’s Parade Co-ordinator in advance).
No religious and/or political messaging or images can appear on uniforms and/or clothing worn in the People’s Parade or be displayed in any way by participants on banners, flags or other otherwise. (If unsure please check with the People’s Parade Co-ordinator in advance).
No messaging or images that are derogatory of any third party, obscene or offensive in nature can appear on uniforms and/or clothing worn in the People’s Parade or be displayed in any way by participants on banners, flags or other otherwise. (If unsure please check with the People’s Parade Co-ordinator in advance).
The People’s Parade and participants may be recorded for broadcast and for use in other audio and/or audiovisual reproductions and photographs may also be taken of the People’s Parade and participants (“Images”). Participants acknowledge and agree that the Festival shall not be responsible for the use and/or reproduction of any such Images by third parties. Each participant irrevocably agrees that the Festival may use such Images free of charge throughout the world and without any restriction as to manner, frequency and duration of use in any and all media for any present and future promotional purposes.
All participants in the People’s Parade will be provided with accreditation prior to their participation and accreditation can only be provided by the Festival.
Accreditation will be available for collection in City Hall, Dame St. Dublin 2 on March 15th & March 16th 2013 from 10am to 5pm. You will receive an email with more details on accreditation once your application is approved.
Participants must collect accreditation in advance and only those persons with accreditation will be permitted to participate in the People’s Parade.
Accreditation must be on display at all times during set-up and during the People’s Parade itself.
Accreditation is personal and non-transferrable.
Participants must be in the People’s Parade set-up area at the specified time (you will be advised of this by email in advance). Please note if you arrive after this time you may not be permitted to participate.
Participants must comply with all reasonable requests and instructions of Festival staff and co-operate at all times with the Garda Síochána (Irish police).
Participants are not permitted to stop along the parade route unless otherwise directed by Festival personnel.
Participants are not permitted to exit the parade route prior to the end of the designated People’s Parade route unless otherwise directed by Festival personnel.
Participants must maintain the walking/marching pace as directed by Festival personnel.
Participants are not permitted to stop for the purposes of filming/photography.
Participants must not throw items into the crowd.
Participants must not litter at any point during the People’s Parade. Please note you may be fined up to a maximum of €3000 for littering by Dublin City Council.
Participants must not in any way encourage viewers to come onto the Parade route.
Participants must not have consumed alcohol in advance of the People’s Parade, and the Festival shall operate a strict no smoking and no alcohol policy. Designated smoking areas will be available in the setup area.
It is not permitted to consume alcohol or drugs while participating in the People’s Parade. Any illegal behaviour and/or violations of the law will not be tolerated and participants will be solely responsible for any fines, fees, arrests, injury and/or imprisonment that may occur as a result of any such illegal behaviour and/or violations.
Participants should refrain from eating during the People’s Parade.
The Festival reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to prohibit accredited participants from taking part in the People’s Parade and request that any participant leave or be removed from the setup area or Parade route for any reason, including, without limitation, public safety, overcrowding, a breach of these Terms and Conditions or otherwise.
Participants may, to the extent permitted by applicable laws, be subject to a search prior to their participation in the People’s Parade and in the interest of public safety, any participant that refuses to consent to such search may be denied participation.
Participants must show respect for the rights of other participants to enjoy the event.
The decisions of the Festival are final.
The People’s Parade is subject to event licence.
