All aboard for this year’s Festival celebrations.... 15th March 2013: Navigating a course this morning up Dublin’s River Liffey, St. Patrick himself has arrived safely in Dublin City Centre in time for this year’s fun filled, five day St. Patrick’s Festival. The Patron Saint of Ireland arrived in safety and style donning a life jacket aboard his 5m Rib.

St. Patrick’s Festival Céilí calls dancers to St. Stephen’s Green. 13th March 2013: Lace up those dancing shoes and join in the fun at one of the most popular events on the St. Patrick’s Festival programme. The Festival Céilí, taking place at St. Stephen’s Green on Friday 15th March, is free of charge and will see dancing superstar Dearbhla Lennon of Riverdance fame joined by a host of professional dancers and instructors to get you ‘in the groove’ on Festival Friday!

Nicky Byrne selected as Grand Marshal of the 2013 St. Patrick’s Festival Parade. 7th March 2013: One of Ireland’s best loved and internationally celebrated pop-artists, Nicky Byrne, was today unveiled as Grand Marshal of this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival Parade. A native of Dublin, Byrne was chosen by Festival organisers for his outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry, and will have a lead role in the Festival Parade on Sunday March 17th.

SUPERVALU SET FOR BIG DAY OUT THIS ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL
27th February 2013: St. Patrick’s Festival 2013 welcomes Irish retailer, SuperValu, as sponsor of one of the Festival’s biggest events. The SuperValu Big Day Out takes place in Merrion Square, Dublin from 12.00 – 18.00 on Saturday March 16th, the eve of St. Patrick’s Day. Over 80,000 people are expected to enjoy the very best international and Irish street acts and attractions at this FREE, magical day of fun for all the family.

Festival welcomes greatest ever number of international participants. 20 February 2013: Vibrant Festival characters and children joined the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Leo Varadkar, TD in Dublin this morning to launch St. Patrick’s Festival 2013, which will take place this March 14th- 18th. A fantastic five-day programme of free events, celebrating the very best in Irish and International talent, will mark our national holiday. In the year of The Gathering, the Festival Parade will explore the theme “Great Things Happen When We Get Together”.

Full Festival Programme to be announced on 20th February - January 2013: This year, Ireland will get together for another St. Patrick’s Festival in celebration of our country’s national Holiday. The five-day festival programme is packed full of events celebrating all things Irish. This year’s theme, ‘Great Things Happen When We Get Together’, is inspired by ‘The Gathering Ireland 2013’, and will see the Festival throw open its arms to thousands of friends and families from all over the world to enjoy the best in Irish culture, art, street theatre, music & heritage. From 14th – 18th March, the streets of Dublin will come alive with a host of pageantry, carnivals and free entertainment showcasing the best of both Irish and international talent.

In celebration of all things Irish; people, culture, heritage and history, ‘The Gathering Ireland 2013’ and St. Patrick’s Festival are inviting 8,000 people from across the world to march on St. Patrick’s Day next March 17th. The People’s Parade encourages Irish people to throw open their arms and invite anyone who feels a connection to Ireland to come, visit and participate in the country’s most celebrated and iconic national event!
