AUDIENCES OF UP TO HALF A MILLION ON THE STREET FOR SPECTACULAR ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL PARADE

The streets of the capital were transformed today with colour, fun and dramatic spectacle as the 2017 St. Patrick’s Festival Parade made its way through the heart of Dublin to celebrate our national holiday. Pageant companies and community arts projects from around the country, and marching bands and performers from all over the globe, delighted the cheering crowds who were enchanted by the magical atmosphere and awe inspiring creative presentations. Irish sailor and Olympic silver medallist Annalise Murphy (27) had the honour of leading the parade as Grand Marshal.

ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL PARADE 2017 IMPORTANT PUBLIC INFORMATION & ROUTE CHANGES

The St. Patrick’s Festival Parade will weave its way through the heart of the capital city in a flourish of colour and flair from 12pm this Friday, 17th March. There are changes to the parade route which will affect how the general public get around the City. Diversions will be in place which may lengthen journey times so it is advised to plan ahead.

OLYMPIC SAILING SILVER MEDALIST ANNALISE MURPHY TO LEAD THIS YEAR’S ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL PARADE

Irish sailor and Olympic silver medallist Annalise Murphy (27), from Dublin, has been selected by St. Patrick’s Festival to lead this year’s spectacular Festival Parade which will wind its way through the streets of the capital on March 17th. The young sports star was chosen in recognition of her outstanding achievement at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, her contribution to Irish sport and her courage and determination to succeed on the world stage in her sport.
